About setpiece
Setting the table takes two minutes and changes what the meal is. Fewer things competing for attention, one surface that is clearly for this, and everyone sitting like they mean to stay a while. The phone usually ends up face down (not really a rule, it just tends to happen).
It works when you're eating alone, when the point is to think with a clear head. It works across from one person, when the point is to talk. It works at a table of eight, when the point is that nobody wants to get up. It works at eight in the morning and at eight at night. We make linen placemats and coasters for all of it. Taking them out should feel like you've decided something about the hours ahead. Set the table like it's going to be a good time.
MADE IN MANILA
Made here, in small runs
Every setpiece is cut and sewn here in Manila, in small runs. Small enough that someone has held every piece before it gets to your table.
LINEN
Light, and it holds its shape
Linen has a texture you notice from across the room. Ours is light without being flimsy, so the placemats lie flat and stay flat. The table looks set, and it still looks set an hour in.
FOUR COLORWAYS
Spotted on the table
Cab Sauv, Miso Butter, Roquefort, EVOO. Named for the things that end up there anyway, and chosen to look right beside them.
About the first drop
The first setpiece run is made to order. Preorder in October and your set ships in early December, in time to have the table set for the good part of the year. Made once, in a small quantity. We make what’s ordered and not much more.
